Password Help

The TCU password policy applies to all students, faculty and staff.

  1. Password Expiration and History
    • Passwords are required to be changed at least once every 120 days
    • Passwords can be changed every 0 days
    • The last 5 passwords must be different
  2. Password Strength
    • Contain at least 7 characters
    • Contain at least one alpha character: A-z
    • Contain at least one numeric character: 0-9
    • Contain at least one special character: ! # $ ^ & * () {} [] – _ = + ` ~ ; ‘ ” ? / , <> or .\
    • Not be too similar to your last password
    • Not be too similar to your name
    • Not be a word, greater than 4 characters, found in the dictionary
  3. Account lockout
    • Accounts will be locked out after 5 failures in 15 minutes
    • Accounts will be locked out for 2 hours after the last failed logon attempt
